Important things to understand about this service
Labs Do Not Replace Medical Care
Lab results are data, not a diagnosis. Abnormal results must be reviewed and interpreted by a qualified medical provider in the context of your full clinical picture. These labs do not substitute for an ongoing medical relationship or primary care. It is your responsibility to follow up on results.
Lab Review Is a Separate Appointment
The initial lab ordering consultation covers symptom review and lab selection. Interpretation of your results, clinical discussion, and any recommendations require a separate Lab Review Virtual Appointment, which is billed separately. This is not included in your initial consult fee.
No Treatment Plan Without a Provider Relationship
A formal treatment plan is not provided through a lab ordering or review consultation alone. Developing a treatment plan requires an established provider-patient relationship at Optimize by JaeNix. Lab review can inform next steps but does not constitute a treatment protocol.
Provider-ordered labs, your way
Most people who want labs either have to wait weeks for a primary care appointment or pay out of pocket for direct-to-consumer kits that nobody explains. We offer a middle path — a real provider orders appropriate labs based on your symptoms and goals, you get them drawn at Quest, and your results come back electronically.
All labs are ordered through Quest Diagnostics. You can choose cash-pay pricing or ask us to order under your insurance. We cannot guarantee insurance coverage or your out-of-pocket cost, as we do not bill insurance directly — but we can send the order in a way that allows your insurance to be billed at Quest.
Cash-pay orders are invoiced through our EMR. HSA and FSA cards are accepted as long as your plan allows lab testing as a qualified expense.
Schedule a consultation to discuss your symptoms, goals, and health history. Your provider will discuss which labs are appropriate and why.
Your requisition is generated and sent securely to your email. Take it to the nearest Quest Diagnostics location for your blood draw — no appointment needed at most locations.
Results are returned electronically. You will receive basic notification if any values fall outside the reference range. Results are yours to keep and share with any provider.
To discuss what your results mean in the context of your symptoms and goals, book a separate Lab Review Virtual Appointment. This is billed separately and is not included in your initial consult. You may also take results to your own primary care provider.
Cash-pay pricing or insurance billing
We offer two paths depending on your preference. Neither option involves us billing your insurance directly — but you still have the ability to use insurance or pre-tax health dollars.
Cash-Pay Pricing
Invoice via EMR · HSA and FSA Accepted
Cash-pay lab pricing is available for patients who prefer transparent upfront costs without insurance involvement. Your invoice is sent through our EMR system after your consultation.
HSA and FSA cards are accepted for payment as long as your plan allows lab testing as a qualified medical expense. We recommend confirming with your plan before paying with a health spending account.
Cash-pay pricing is set at the time of your consultation and covers the cost of the specific panels ordered.
We do not provide a price guarantee in advance of ordering as panel composition varies. Pricing is discussed during your lab consultation.
Insurance Billing at Quest
Ordered to Bill Your Insurance · Coverage Not Guaranteed
We can order your labs in a way that allows Quest Diagnostics to bill your insurance directly. We do not bill insurance ourselves and are not in-network with any insurance plans.
What your insurance covers, what your copay or deductible is, and what your final out-of-pocket cost will be are determined entirely by your insurance plan and Quest's relationship with your insurer. We cannot predict, guarantee, or control any of those costs.
If your insurance denies coverage or partially covers the order, you will be responsible for the balance through Quest. We recommend checking with your insurance before ordering if cost is a concern.
We do not provide superbills or handle insurance disputes. Coverage questions should be directed to your insurance plan or Quest Diagnostics.
Common lab categories
Specific panels and tests are determined during your lab consultation based on your symptoms and goals. The following represent common categories we order.
Evaluation of estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, cortisol, SHBG, and related hormones. Used for baseline testing before starting therapy, perimenopause evaluation, and ongoing monitoring.
Basic or comprehensive thyroid panels for patients evaluating thyroid function, symptoms of hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism, or monitoring existing thyroid therapy.
Commonly ordered before or during GLP-1 therapy or weight optimization programs. Evaluates insulin resistance, blood sugar, cardiovascular risk, and inflammatory markers.
Evaluation of commonly deficient nutrients that affect energy, mood, immune function, and hormonal health. Often paired with hormone panels for a fuller picture.
Food allergy and sensitivity testing, environmental allergen panels, and immune response markers that can guide conversations around nutrition, inflammation, and symptom triggers.
Labs commonly required for employment, academic programs, immunity documentation, and occupational health compliance including titers, hepatitis panels, TB-related testing, and STI screening.
Lab review and what comes next
Initial Lab Ordering Consultation
What the ordering consult covers
Your initial lab consultation is focused on understanding your symptoms and goals, and determining which labs are clinically appropriate to order. Your provider can discuss what the tests measure and what you are looking to evaluate.
Lab Review Appointment — Billed Separately
What a lab review visit covers
Once results are back, a separate Lab Review Virtual Appointment can be booked to discuss what your results mean in the context of your symptoms, history, and goals. This is a clinical conversation, not a treatment plan, unless you are an established patient.
Lab review and treatment planning are billed separately from the initial ordering consultation. These services do not replace primary care.
Frequently asked about lab ordering
Can I order labs without a doctor's appointment?
Yes. You can schedule a lab consultation with Optimize by JaeNix to discuss your symptoms and goals, and a provider will order appropriate labs through Quest Diagnostics. Your requisition is sent to your email and you take it to any Quest location for your draw. No traditional office visit or primary care relationship is required to get labs ordered.
Does Optimize by JaeNix bill insurance for labs?
We do not bill insurance directly. However, we can order your labs in a way that allows Quest Diagnostics to bill your insurance at the time of your draw. We cannot guarantee what your insurance will cover, what your out-of-pocket cost will be, or how your plan will process the claim. If cost is a concern, cash-pay pricing is also available. An invoice is sent through our EMR and HSA and FSA cards are accepted as long as your plan allows it.
Will someone review my results with me?
You will receive basic notification if any values fall outside the reference range. Clinical discussion and interpretation of your results require a separate Lab Review Virtual Appointment, which is billed separately and not included in the initial ordering consultation. You may also take your results to your own primary care provider for review.
Can I get a treatment plan from my lab results?
Not through a lab ordering or review consultation alone. A formal treatment plan requires an established provider-patient relationship at Optimize by JaeNix. If your lab results indicate that one of our programs — such as hormone optimization, weight loss, or peptide therapy — may be appropriate, your provider can discuss next steps and help you get started through the proper enrollment process.
Where do I get my blood drawn?
All labs are drawn at your nearest Quest Diagnostics location. Your requisition is sent to your email after your consultation and you bring it to the draw site. No blood draw takes place at our clinic. Quest has locations throughout all eight of our licensed states.
Can I use my HSA or FSA card?
Yes. Cash-pay lab invoices are sent through our EMR and can be paid with an HSA or FSA card as long as your plan allows lab testing as a qualified expense. We recommend confirming with your plan administrator before paying with a health spending account card, as eligibility varies by plan.
